Contemporary table lamps
Put a contemporary table lamp on a Directoire chest of drawers. A couple of books, some fresh flowers. Magic. Put a pair of contemporary table lamp on a lucite console table in your hallway. A vide-poche (may we recommend Hermès, the small round one, in felt—a must-have, really). And again, magic. Contemporary may be a label that can mean all kinds of styles, but to us ‘contemporary’ means ‘at ease, anywhere, anyplace’. At Empel Collections, we not only design contemporary table lamps, but also floor lamps, wall lights, and ceiling lamps that do not look dated the moment you buy a new ottoman. In our not so humble opinion, that kind of design is not contemporary but trendy. And, at Empel Collections, we have decided that trendy is out of fashion. It is all about ‘timeless’ for us.
We found this wonderful group of yellow vintage ceramic vases. ( see before last image. Last image shows you the pair of longneck vases as lamps )
All are pairs.
Also the big belly ones, but as they are hand thrown, they are not exactly the same size. The difference is just 1cm in height.
So, the lamp is available as a single.
In case you do not mind a slight size difference....a pair is available. ( via the plinth we could ad that 1cm )
We have built it up as lamp. But have not drilled yet.
As lamp it will be fitted with a tripple lamp socket cluster.
We found this wonderful clear resin finial from the 60's. ONLY one available ( a finial is an option)
We have taken a photo with a neutral slightly tapered white chintz lamp shade. Size 55/50/30
Shade shown is optional.
You can choose other colors/materials.
COM welcome
If you prefer to source your own shade...no problem.
Base + shade 80cm
the larger vase itself 49cm. The sligtly smaller one 48cm

Our contemporary table lamps: modern meets old skool
Let’s just say it: our lamps are not cheap. First of all, we use the best materials we can find. And our design process is different from most. As almost all of our table lamps are made to measure, incorporating a client’s individual specifications, we literally start from scratch most of a time, bouncing ideas back and forth. And our manufacturing process is not really a process at all. We do everything by hand. We don’t have a conveyor belt production line, manned by robots, churning out contemporary table lamps 24/7. Believe you us when we say that gold-leafing a pair of table lamps and then adding patina and detailing takes hours and hours of painstaking work. Our approach may be modern, our methods are old skool. And we would not have it any other way.
The icing on the cake
A well designed, well executed, contemporary table lamp is the icing on your interior design cake. Although generally speaking icing is toothachingly sweet, and basically inedible, and serves to keep your Christmas cake ‘fresh’ until well into Spring, which is really quite unnecessary. Obviously, what we mean to say is that a well-placed contemporary table lamp—or better yet, a well-placed pair of contemporary table lamps—is not only utterly functional but can be as beautiful and striking as a piece of art.
